We are The Ambassador of Indonesia (Indonesia-Malaysia Youth Exchange Program 2013)_Part 4_
Thursday, August 29, 2013
Thursday, August 29th, 2013 is a thrilling day as well as pride for us. How not , the day is when we will undergo our first day as Indonesian delegation, to our country.
We will leave for Kuala Lumpur , Malaysia , that day . At exactly 08.00 am we all have been prepared in the lobby of Hotel Santika after eating breakfast at the hotel last time .
That day , for me , can not be described with words . We all were amazed and very proud , using our state outfit called A1 . Yes , A1 is mandatory for our clothes , equipped with the attribute is a symbol of Indonesia , pin of the program , and also Garuda pin .
With a smile of pride review this piece , we felt that we looked quite dashing wearing the uniform . However, we also do not forget the burdens and responsibilities that we bear as an ambassador for the nation .
Oh, one more thing, our plane is different from the Malaysian delegation . They had to check – out the afternoon using their national airline. We leave first.
See you again Surabaya . Thank you for all the memories and a sense for us that we love this country more . We have stepped on his land , spent water , breathe the air , live on it , then now is the time our duty , to bring your good name . Even though we know that we will not reply to your services , Indonesia .
At 10:30 am, we have arrived at Juanda International Airport, Surabaya. Check-in was quite long because our belongings are in huge numbers . And finally, at 1:30 pm , boarding time arrived . We were strapping while passed the garbarata to enter the plane . From a distance , it appears that Singapore Airlines flight attendant greeted us very friendly .Just for your information that our flight to Kuala Lumpur from Juanda using SQ, Singapore Airline ( Sin` s National Airline) one of my favorite airlines. They are five-star airline that is parallel to the other world class airlines such as Emirates , Cathay , JAL , KLM , and Lufthansa . At least that’s what i know .
The thing i like with this airline is the stewardesses. They are simple yet classy for me . In addition , i really like the livery of their very distinctive yellow and blue line. Read more here as well .
I also took a time to pose with that crew in the rear cabin. Hahaha . They also told me that our uniform that i wore was adorable. So they gave me an email address in order thar i send the photo to them . Haha . Oh, one more thing, i do liked the smell of hand sanitizer that is in the passenger lavatory, because the smell is very refreshing.
Ok , back to topic ….
Not less than two hours , which is about 3.15 Singapore local time, our plane was landing at Changi Int ` l Airport . Henceforth we will switch to a Silk Air flight to continue the trip to Kuala Lumpur . Silk Air is a budget airline owned SQ , as Lion Air with their Wings airline was , or Garuda Indonesia with their Citilink. But , i was not too keen with Silk Air. Only , I love the red chrome lipstick color of Silk Air’s flight attendants, very suits with their skin. And, i took some pic with Yessi and Aisha during our transit in Changi. Here it goes.
At 4:40 pm we finally got our foot in our neighbor country . Yarp ! We have landed at Kuala Lumpur International Airport ( KLIA ). We were welcomed by representatives of the Ministry of Youth and Sport Malaysia are also some who are alumni committee IMYEP 2013 Malaysia. Here they are.
Ohlala , we given enough of warm welcome . Thank you , comrade . In fact , the hotel provided for us is in Vivatel , which is located in Ampar , and i think is one of the good hotels. Apparently, they wanted to greet us well in their country . Well, this is a lot of fun . This signifies that they are happy to open the lines of friendship with us . After that, we also created a simple welcome ceremony in the main lobby of the hotel.
For this time, i am no longer to stay the same room with Leng. Now, my room mate is Abhirami , or commonly call with Abi . She is a good-natured person , and she’s like really like watching TV . LOL . ( Hi , Aby , how are you right now ? )
At that time we were really tired. In fact , the other tasks and other agendas have been waiting for . We have to do more cultural performance exercise. That ` s right . As in the beginning. our job as an ambassador for the nation were already started here . We do not want to disappoint the people who have put their trust in our shoulders .

This is our second day in Malaysia and our agenda was visit some state institutions such as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs , Ministry of Youth Sport , and the administrative center of Putra Jaya.
When visiting the area Putra Jaya , i amazed to see the architecture of the buildings , some of which use natural stone . Many large buildings created with highly detailed architecture . Existing buildings in the area are very majestic and almost all of them gray . Looks similar and neatly lined up on the right and left . In fact , some of which are using the main ingredient in the form of iron. Just as iron mosque not far from the building of Malaysia’s Ministry of Youth and Sport.
The other thing that caught my attention was the design of the office of Malaysia`s ministry of youth and sport is so colourful . The design consists of several athletes photos and other outstanding young people with a variety of expressions . There are also pictures of them when they were winning the race and getting charter and achievement. The design really cheerful and i think this is able to generate a spirit for anyone who goes into it .
I think , this may need to be replicated by Indonesia’s Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs. A few years ago , i visit the office of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Indonesia for a business. At that time, me and my friends muttering , “How a ordinary office, huh ? There ‘s no one thing that capable to generate a spirit of the younger generation. Then, when i did Pre-Departure Training (PDT) before our program, i visited the office again the office and it still unchanged.
Haha, hei where was i up to?
When we finished visited various institutions , then we also went to the Central Market , an art market that sells a variety of souvenirs at affordable prices.
My mind floated back about one and a half years ago . Central Market is one of my main goals to Malaysia for the first time at that time. I came circuitry using the LRT and get off at Masjid Jamek Station . Then we walked while looking at the KL Tower in the distance and eating ‘manisan buah’ around the station . At that time , i muttered , perhaps one day i could came back here, I will be back to take pictures in front of Kashturi Walk . But, not much time left the last visit yesterday , in hence , i failed to take pictures in front of the back Kashturi Walk. hihihihi
The day was closed with a dinner at the restaurant, Ikhwan Coffee House that were located in the Bukit Bintang area. Bukit Bintang is an area in Malaysia which is also a tourist area that never sleeps. On either side of enhancing diverse entertainment arena or also street food around . It gonna be much like the Khaosan area , but this is neater. The tidyness also remains me the same as when i visited Bukit Bintang long ago when i first time got there .
We own the night.
After haviing dinner, we do not necessarily make us fell asleep in the bus started to move slowly towards the left Bukit Bintang hotel . We keep joking and laughing like we do not want to waste moment even a second.
We want to share with in any event. Including celebrate our friend ‘s birthday , Khaled , which falls on August 31, 2013 . His birthday was coincides with Independence Day of Malaysia , where we also become one of the guest of honor to celebrate the Independence Day at Dataran Merdeka with ministers , ambassadors , state guests , and of course Yang Dipertuan Agung .
Like a state guest , we were given a place in the main stand, behind a row of ambassador . Oh, and that was quite exclusive. At exactly 08.00 am , the ceremony of Malaysian Independence Day begun , and that was different from what normally i see in our own country . Malaysian Independence Day celebration took place is very festive . They actually involve youth as one of the contents of performance.
Broadly, their independence day celebration filled with parades and also several dance and chant and also song . All people are allowed to see directly from the edge of the road . The arena open free to the public celebration , except in the arena stands with white tent .
It is probably different from other country’s independence celebrations that we always have ever seen Based on the pocket book that given prior to the event , there were about 96 participants in that carnival independence , which turned out to take three hours to complete the event .
After the event over , we all rushed to the bus and we would travel far enough, toward our House Fam that located in Felda Sri Ledang , Johor Bahru . Our suitcases and luggages, already had brought along with us before we attend the celebration of Malaysia ‘s independence day . All the suitcases and luggages were on the bus , while we follow the ceremony . Yeah . We were a practical people. We must be able to realize the principle , ‘ When once rowing , two or three islands must be exceeded . ” Aaaaaand … we can not wait for long. We are excited to meet up with our new mom and dad. So, who`s gonna be my new mom and daddy?
Welcome to Johor
After traveling about five hours , finally did at 4:25 pm local time , we arrived at Felda Sri Ledang , a village that located at the end of Mount Ledang . I think the village is almost like a village in Indonesia , even glance like a residential way around my livelihood ( hahaha )
The Datok, as the village head, were welcoming us. He greeted us very friendly . We looked an enthusiastic faces. I ask for to self, which one of them will definitely be my host families ?
After the welcome ceremony finished , we were reunited with our families , respectively . The host family will consist of two or three of the Indonesian delegation , and two or three of Malaysian delegates.
I was adopted by a kind-hearted Mother who was called as Mak Moen , and her husband(who is a descendant of Madura), Cik Ngadiran . On the other hand, my host brother , are my dance partner when i dancing Ongkek Manis in Surabaya . Guess who ` s ? True . Yessi and Rani . Then we coupled with the two Malaysian Delegates that i think is unique and funny , Thivagar and Raymond . ( Raymond , we do not have a Chinese Blood , brotaaah : P )
The house that we live were very comfortably , even equipped with super fast Wi – Fi, three family cars, and a large field. Mak Moen always cooked a good food with good taste . Hmm ….. This is seems not a village , its such like a hidden city. hahaha
We started talking about who we are , our activities , our province and how we can meet each other . Mak Cik Ngadiran Moen and listen to us carefully. The daughter in law and and also his son also responsive to our presence .
And at night, after we attended the celebrate our Aidl Fitri Celebration in the Village Leader`s house , we went to Johor Bahru city. To went there, we have to took about one hour from Sri Ledang .
There, we stopped at the city park and several times to took photos with background of Johor park .Yeah, we seems like an imigrants at that time. hahaha. The time shows at 01.00 am local time . However , the park was still crowded by young people who may still hungry for entertaint. That was such an incredible night.
For me , that night will be eternal . Good night Johor Bahru .
Sunday, September 1, 2013
August has turned into September, the month which is the program will over, yup , at least a few days later after that date .
But , we still have to accomplish one mission , we need to successfully carry out the cultural performance in the presence of Sri Ledang residents , village officials , representatives of the Ministry of Youth Sport and Malaysian officials . And the evening on that day , was a thrilling moment for us .
We had envisioned that our cultural perfomance to run smoothly . At least , we have been training so well. So now , we can only hope that all will go according to our plan circuitry .
The time for a cultural performance is still quite long . However we still use intervals to discuss it . Understandably , we have to use the time as much as possible given our hectic agenda .
That morning , we had to follow the independence celebrations held by the village government in Sri Ledang Hall . Then , followed by attending gangsing game arena, turned out to be one of the traditional games in Felda Sri Ledang .Some of us are enough to try to play gangsing with antusias although, indeed, it was not easy . But some of us were made it! Yiipyiyy!
After that, we did to our last trained of Cultural Performance. The PIC of Cultural Performance , Anga , Yuyun , Ali , Andar , and Fio decided to hold a last exercise before our gigs on that night. These are the last chances for us to practice. And also should not be forgotten is that we also have to show our costumes optimally, that also will supporting our performances . The struggle is about to begin again , my friend. Hopefully we could succeeded tonight .
” When you sing the national anthem in the land of other country, it will be very different than you sing in your own country , ”
That’s about a quote from my favorite author . In the past , i might not be able to feel how beautiful a national anthem sang in the land . – As i told you before, you can came up to Malaysian as an Indonesia`s Ambassador, is very different if you just come for a holiday . Indeed , all people can come to different countries if they is willing and able. But remember . Not everyone can travel to a country, as a representative or as an ambassador.
I was able to feel, i sang that song in the flag ceremony every Monday in my elementary school lazily. Ah , even the lyrics of the song was not attractive to us at all. Maybe yes , maybe no .
That night , we sang the national anthem , Indonesia Raya , together on one stage . We watched by hundreds of eyes , which then given us a stand honor . I also asked myself . Is this the happiness in diversity ? is this called a tolerance in diversity ?
One thing could clear . At that time , i really believed what is said by my favorite author . My heart fluttered , even strong enough . The scars and a corner of my eyes were narrowed . I almost cried Now i know how powerful the song which was written by WR Supratman . Ah , no . I should not be mushy . We all have to look proud to bring our national anthem .
Thus even when we sang a medley of the country, we felt that we were indeed abundant wealth . What we have been awarded one of the legacies that we should always keep . Song , dance , traditional costumes , traditions , beliefs , character , natural resources , and all things that exist in the earth of Indonesia is fitting that we have to keep and save .
And indeed, the feeling can not be lie. I had my tears on backstage when the song played Tanah Airku as our fashion show backsound.
We also featuring with Malaysian Delegates to sang a song. We ending the show by singing Sahabat Selamanya from PADI, Indonesian Band . Actually, we can feel , our diversity and customs are not an obstacle to make our friendship geeting stronger.
Now i’m getting a new point of view in seeing something . And that evening ended with a joy . We successfully brought our cultural mission . We made it . We managed it.
We are Generasi Hebat!
